MURRAY PONDERS THE PROSPECT OF BRECHIN AND BRAZIL!
26th July 2016
Murray Davidson has spoken of his delight at being involved in another full Scotland squad and admits he would love to be given the opportunity to mix it with the stars of Brazil at the Emirates Stadium.
Speaking to the Saints Official Website this afternoon, Murray said; “I’m absolutely delighted to be involved – it is a massive boost for me and the chance to go away with the squad and experience the game against Brazil will be of great benefit, whatever my involvement in the game itself.â€
The news of his inclusion in Craig Levein’s plans was broken to him by Derek McInnes at training this morning and ‘Muzz’ was delighted to get the good news.
“To be honest, when he pulled me aside I thought I’d done something wrong so to discover that it was only to tell me the news was a relief! It is something to look forward to but I have two big games first and my focus is on the games against Hamilton and Brechin – any thoughts of Brazil are on the back burner until these games are out of the way.â€
Murray has been left frustrated in previous attempts to make an impact at international level with several Under 21 call-ups ending in disappointment when he had to withdraw through injury and then last November he suffered the frustration of being involved in the full squad for the game against the Faroe Isles at Pittodrie only be left kicking his heels on the substitutes’ bench.
Derek McInnes hopes that Murray gets the chance to be involved in the game against Brazil a week on Sunday at Arsenal’s stadium and is delighted that the fact that the player can’t be involved in the full week of the squad get-together has not counted against his inclusion. The Scotland squad gather on Sunday before heading off to a training camp in Spain and Murray will join them next midweek.
Derek said: “I spoke with Craig Levein and he was aware that we had the cup replay against Brechin City next Tuesday and I was delighted when he told me that he was fine with Murray joining them after that game. He will fly out on Wednesday and so will still be very much involved in the build up. Hopefully, he will go there on the back of a couple of Saints wins.
“I’m thrilled for him – what an opportunity, what a venue. He deserves it and I hope he goes there, enjoys the build up and does himself proud.â€
