MANAGER'S THOUGHTS ON ST MIRREN DRAW

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS ON ST MIRREN DRAW

26th July 2016

Manager Derek McInnes admitted his side gave a “flat” performance in yesterday’s drab goalless affair with St Mirren at McDiarmid Park.

He praised his players’ efforts, not just against the Buddies but in the previous handful of games which has brought about a decent run of results but admitted that his players had to be better than they showed in the second home game of 2011.

The gaffer also flagged up that his side may have to develop a way of playing at home which better suits the restrictions put on them by the McDiarmid Park pitch..

The playing surface has struggled to look the part since the heavy rains of late autumn and with the undersoil heating having been on for two days to combat a week of sub-zero temperatures ahead of the St Mirren game, the soft surface cut up badly.

The manager also took time to praise the performance of an often under-rated Steven Anderson who was a stand-out in defence yesterday.
