Danny ready to be a regular

Danny Swanson made only his second start of the league campaign last weekend against Ross County but the 32-year-old produced a fantastic display marking his performance with an assist for Stevie May's first-half equaliser.

Up until then, Swanny had to be content with appearances from the bench as well as behind-closed-door matches to try and build up his fitness.

The Saints number 11 has picked up a few niggles and knocks this season which have not helped his cause when it comes to securing a regular first-team place.

But after being handed the chance in Dingwall last Saturday he feels like he's ready to kick on and get a run in Tommy Wright's side.

"I really enjoyed it," Danny said, "it was great being back out there but obviously the result wasn't the victory we wanted.

"I thought we played really well and deserved to win but that's football. The boys are still confident and we know that one win gets us right back in the mix. There's no panic.

"When you're on the bench you always wonder when the chance will come to get back in. I spoke to the gaffer last week and he was very honest with me.

"I've been working really hard in training and I felt fit on Saturday. I came off because I had a dead leg but in general I felt good.

"My weight is where I want it to be at the moment which is a big thing for me. I'll continue working hard up so I'm ready to go for St Mirren and hopefully I can now get a run of games in the team."

Danny played a lovely ball through for Stevie May to get the first Saints goal on Saturday and he believes that they can develop a good understanding with each other to unlock the league's defences.

"Mayzo makes great runs," he said.

"I noticed that since he came back and even watching him on the sidelines I can see the runs he's making.

"He knows that if he makes those runs I'll try to find him. It was a good goal last Saturday and hopefully there will be more to come.

"For me it's just about getting on the pitch and doing it. I can make those passes if it's on and help create opportunities for the strikers."
