Hibs Match Preview

Saints travel to Edinburgh take on Hibs in our next cinch Premiership clash.

Match Preview

This fixture will make history as the first game in Scotland to have VAR in operation.

Kevin Clancy will be the match referee.

Willie Collum will be the VAR official.

Last time out for Saints

A deflected first half strike from Dylan Moyo Bahamboula was the difference between the sides as Saints slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena last weekend.

The only goal of the game came on 35 minutes as Bahamboula cut inside from the left before unleashing a right footed effort which took a wicked deflection off Andy Considine to take the strike beyond Remi Matthews.

Last time out for Hibs

Hibs are also looking to bounce back after a 6-1 thrashing against Celtic. A James Forrest hat-trick, a brace from Giakoumakis and a late Maeda goal saw the league leaders comfortably take the 3 points at Celtic Park.

Nicky Clark's thoughts

“I missed the game last week as my partner was having our first baby, a little girl, everything went well they are both doing amazing.

“Hibs will be a tough test, hopefully I can get a good sleep tonight and turn all my attention to the game tomorrow.

“VAR will change the game, it will be good to get it in place. Some of the boys have been talking about how it might change some goal celebrations, but I think I will still celebrate as normal. It might result in some double celebrations.”

Callum Davidson's thoughts

“It will be interesting with VAR, hopefully we won’t have to see it involved and it will be a good game of football. Hopefully it won’t come down to refereeing or VAR decisions that affect the outcome of the game.

“Players will have to play to the whistle and carry on playing in all situations. If you start thinking about decisions and what could happen, you might lose focus.

“Recently we have been beaten twice on astroturff at two tough away games and by a last-minute goal at home against Celtic. It’s frustrating as I think the performance levels have still been there. I would have liked more points from those games, I feel we deserved more points from them. We will keep going and focus on playing more attacking football and getting more balls into the box.”
