Matty Kennedy

Matty Kennedy joined the club in July on a free transfer following his release from Cardiff City.

The Irvine-born winger started his career at Kilmarnock and has represented Scotland at all youth international levels. He moved to Everton from Rugby Park in August 2012 and during his time at Goodison Park he had loan spells at Tranmere Rovers, MK Dons and Hibernian.

A permanent move to Cardiff City followed and he made 18 appearances for the Bluebirds but spent the majority of his time at the Welsh club out on-loan first to Port Vale, then Plymouth, before a stint at Portsmouth in 2017/18.

Matty made his debut for the club as a late sub in the League Cup victory over Falkirk before scoring on his first start for the club in the following game with Forfar Athletic. He has become a regular in the first-team squad and netted his first league goal for the club in the 2-0 home victory against St. Mirren on October 27th 2018. He netted once again just four days later in the 1-0 away win at Livingston before making it three goals in four games with a goal in the 4-0 home win against Hamilton.

Having played as a winger most of his career, Matty has been used often as a striker by boss Tommy Wright and has repaid his manager by hitting the back of the net regularly for the club.
