Craig Thomson

This promising teenager first came to Saints attention while playing recreational football with Kennoway United. Joining the club in June 2008, he came through the youth initiative ranks and in June 2011 went full time as part of the Under 19 team.

Season 2013/14 saw Craig feature on a regular basis in the Under 20 team and he also merited his place on the bench on several occasions for first team games including making an appearance from the bench in the 2 - 0 SPFL Premiership win against Dundee United in April.

In January 2015, along with fellow young defender Ally Gilchrist, Craig joined Elgin City on loan until the end of the season.

He continued his development last season and made a further substitute appearance for the first team in the 4 - 1 win over Hamilton Accies in September before making his first start in the first team against Hamilton in 0 - 0 draw at McDiarmid Park in January 2016. Craig made 11 appearances under Tommy Wright last season which saw him rewarded with a new contract in March which will keep him at the club until May 2018.

Unfortunately, Craig suffered a broken collar bone in the 1 - 0 defeat by Dundee United at McDiarmid Park on 2nd April 2016 which brought his season to a premature end.

As part of his ongoing development in August 2016 Craig joined Stranraer on loan until January 2017. On his return Craig scored his first goal for the club in April 2017 as Saints defected Aberdeen 2-0 at Pittodrie.

Craig's home jersey is kindly sponsored by Lewis Dewar (Mark Dewar) and his away jersey is kindly sponsored by W M McNaughtons.
