Saints are delighted to announce that one of the club’s most promising young players has signed a two year extension to his contract, keeping him at the club for the next two seasons.

Defender Jason Kerr is the latest player to have been benefitting from the club’s policy of putting its young talent out on loan to other clubs and over the past two seasons he has quietly racked up 80 appearances for East Fife as the Methil side won the League Two title last season and followed that up with a strong showing in League One this season, narrowly missing out on the play off places.

The 20 year old says: “It’s great to have the next two years sorted and during that time it’s my intention to push myself into the manager’s plans at McDiarmid Park.

"I’ve really enjoyed my involvement with East Fife and it’s given me loads of experience but I’m ready to step up now and whether that’s another loan club further up the leagues or with Saints, I’ll just need to wait and see.”

Tommy Wright is delighted to have secured the central defender for another two years.

“Jason has quietly gone about his business at East Fife but impressed many people and he’s got a lot of first team football under his belt.

"Along with players like Liam Gordon, Aaron Comrie and Ally Gilchrist we have a lot of young talented defenders coming through and we will continue to map out a plan for each of them that benefits both them and the club.”
