Melanie Stewart on appointment as assistant physio

26th August 2016

Saints' website speaks to the club's new assistant physio, Melanie Stewart.

While five new signings joined the playing squad at Saints over this summer, the backroom staff also welcomed a new addition to it's team.

27-year-old Melanie Stewart was installed last month at McDiarmid Park as physio to the Development side and to assist Head Physio Scott Williams with the first team.

Melanie studied her Honours Degree at Glasgow Caledonian University before doing a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy at Cardiff University, and before coming to Perth had been working at Championship side St. Mirren after spells at Celtic Ladies and Stenhousemuir.

On her first few weeks at the Perth Saints she said: "St. Johnstone is a really good club. It's quite a family atmosphere and everyone has been really welcoming.

"I'm mainly involved with the U20's but I'm also here as assistant to the first team, so helping Scott with anything needs and to be in and around training.

"I've always been really into sport. I like to consider myself quite active. I like being involved in team physiotherapy where you're getting players back to fitness quicker rather than working in a hospital. So it's challenging in that sense.

"I love football so I quite enjoy the atmosphere of working at a football club."
