PREVIEW: Saints looking for three straight wins

30th October 2018

Tuesday 30 October 2018

Saints play the second of three games in the space of a week tomorrow night when Tommy Wright's side face Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

Following Saturday's 2-0 home win against St. Mirren, Saints are now looking to make it three consecutive victories but to do so they will have to defeat a Livingston side that has taken to the Scottish Premiership like a duck to water so far this season.

Gary Holt's men are on an eight match unbeaten run in the league and the newly-promoted side currently sit in fourth place in the table with 18 points.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow night's match, the manager says he is confident his side can go to West Lothian and produce another good performance.

"I always believe in my players and think we can get a result," Tommy said.

"It was another good performance on Saturday and we did everything required to get the three points. My only criticism is that we should have scored more!

"I've been really impressed by the character my players have shown since the defeat to Celtic. Not many sides would bounce back with consecutive clean sheets and six points so that says a lot about our squad's mentality.

"It's up to them now to kick on and make it three wins in a row. It's going to be a different game against Livingston and we know where their strengths lie.

"They set up very difficult to beat and they've scored their last six goals from set plays. That's something we know we're going to have to guard against tomorrow night."

It's the second of three matches this week and Tommy says that he has lots of options to keep things fresh thanks to the squad he has assembled over the summer.

"As a manager you want to have as many players available to you as possible," he said, "and now I'm sitting down before every match with different options.

"Whether it's a change in formation or just a change in personnel to keep things fresh we are able to do it now. I have my team in mind for tomorrow night and then I'll look at it again before Hibs on Saturday."

On the injury front, there is only one new concern for the manager who will also be able to welcome Danny Swanson back into the squad after suspension.

"Drey Wright has a little bit of a niggle so he's the only new injury worry for us but I'm hopeful he's going to be okay.

"Danny played 45 minutes for the Reserves yesterday and he's back in contention following his suspension. Steven Anderson and Blair Alston remain out but they're both making good progress.

"Brian Easton has also been making progress and is feeling good but we're not going to put a timeframe on his return as yet."

Tomorrow's match at the Tony Macaroni Arena is a 7:45PM kick-off. The referee is John Beaton.
