Preparations continue against Berwick

10th July 2018

Tuesday 10 July 2018

Preparations for the new season continue for Tommy Wright and his squad tonight in a friendly match away to Berwick Rangers this evening.

In the final pre-season friendly before Saturday's Betfred Cup clash with East Fife, the players will come up against the League Two side at Shielfield Park with a 7:45PM kick-off.

New signing Tony Watt has travelled and is in line to make his first appearance for the club, while Murray Davidson, Zander Clark, Steven Anderson and Richard Foster trained this morning but have been given a rest for tonight's match.

Chris Kane also trained this morning but won't feature in tonight's match.

Ahead of the final pre-season friendly, Tommy Wright is hoping for a competitive run-out for his players.

"This is our final game in terms of preparation for the season ahead," Tommy said, "and I'm hoping it will be a good run-out for the players who have travelled.

"I'd expect us to be fitter than them - given that they're a part-time team - but I'm expecting Berwick to make it tough for us."

On his new recruit, Tommy added: "Tony Watt will start the match and we're hoping to give him the first 45 minutes.

"He's in reasonable shape physically so the plan is to give him 45 minutes tonight and for him to play some part in the game against East Fife on Saturday."

Kick-off tonight is 7:45PM at Shielfield Park. Admission is pay at the gate, £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
