Match preview: Ross County v Saints

St Johnstone travel to Dingwall tomorrow to take on Ross County, attempting to continue their good run of form. Last weekend saw Saints draw 1-1 away to Hamilton, with Liam Craig emphatically equalising for the visitors in the final 10 minutes. The result sees the Saints sat 4th in the Scottish Premiership table and they'll be eager to extend the current four game unbeaten league run which has seen Saints take ten points from a possible twelve. Richard Foster is unlikely to face his former team having been taken off in the Hamilton match, Keith Watson played 45 minutes for the development squad midweek in their 1-0 loss to Dundee but is unlikely to feature on Saturday. Tam Scobbie will again miss out, but is making good progress after his recent operation. Chris Millar is expected to return to the match day squad after a spell on the sidelines due to injury.

The hosts themselves have been boosted with the signing of former Rangers and Scotland winger Chris Burke. The 32 year old was released by Nottingham Forest at the end of last season and arrives on a one year deal. County, who began the season with two wins from two, are 6th in the table two points behind Saints and will be desperate for a positive result after a run of four games without a win.

County failed to beat St Johnstone in any of the club's four league meetings last season. Saints triumphed twice over the Highland outfit while the other two matches ended in a draw.

Tommy Wright, however, is expecting a tough match tomorrow, saying: “They have a really good squad and it’s never an easy place to go to.

"They've had two great results, and their signing this week (Chris Burke) shows the ambition they have got – and the players they're able to attract to the club. In the past they'd have perhaps found it difficult to attract quality players but now they are, and they aren’t afraid to spend the wages which attracts quality to the club."

With both Keith Watson and Richard Foster doubtful, Wright is likely to give either Liam Gordon or Aaron Comrie a chance to impress, saying: “It may be that Liam Gordon comes back in to the starting eleven, if I think that is what’s best suited to get a result. On Sunday, the best decision for us was to put Aaron Comrie on and I thought he did really well and took his chance."
