Loan move for Hurst

Saints can confirm that 21-year-old striker Greg Hurst has joined Berwick Rangers on-loan until January.

This will be Hurst's second spell with Berwick having spent the first half of the 2016/17 season at Shielfield Park. He has also had loan spells with Forfar Athletic and East Fife.

Speaking about his young striker, the manager hopes it will benefit Greg and see him return to McDiarmid Park a better player.

"It's a good opportunity for him," Tommy said, "and it's important he gets some first-team football now.

"With the signings we made over the summer it was always going to be difficult for Greg to get game time. Hopefully the loan move works out for him and he can come back in January better for the experience."

The loan transfer window closes at the end of the month and the manager hopes he can get one or two more of his youngsters out for first-team experience.

"It's been frustrating because we've got a lot of talented young players in the squad but we've not been able to find them clubs to get first-team exposure.

"I'm still hopeful we'll get one or two more out on-loan but time is ticking away so it's looking less and less likely."
