St Johnstone FC is delighted to announce the further development of their partnership with Jeanfield Swifts Ladies with an agreement which will see the senior Swifts Ladies team play as St Johnstone Women FC in the 2018 Scottish Women’s Premier Div 2 campaign which gets underway in February.

Saints Chairman Steve Brown commented "I am very pleased to further develop the partnership and it is great that we will now have St Johnstone WFC.

“The last two years have seen the Jeanfield Ladies team settle in here and this seems like an obvious progression to having St Johnstone WFC which I am pleased to assist with. We are a community club and this move allows us to emphasise that we want to contribute to and engage with the local community in every way we can.

“It is fantastic to see girls of all ages play football and it’s very pleasing that girls in this area can now aspire to playing Premier and International level football with the help of St Johnstone FC. I know that many of the team are active Saints supporters so anything I can do to assist our female fans and indeed grow that side of the fan base excites me."

The team's General Manager Steve Grossi was quick to thank Saints for their help. "In order to continue to compete and then progress further at this level we needed to find a suitable support structure for Head Coach Jason McCrindle, his coaching team and the players.

“The partnership with St Johnstone FC gives us exactly that and I would like to thank Chairman Steve Brown for making this happen. He has assured the existence of top level senior women’s football in Perth over the last 24 months. I have been in discussions with them for a while and I’ve been delighted with their desire to support us as a team and commit fully to this partnership".

Head Coach Jason McCrindle was understandably on a high after the news. “This is an unbelievable boost for Ladies football in this area. The girls have been superb in their first two seasons in SWPL2. They will be a credit to St Johnstone FC with their attitude and commitment.

“Now, in terms of the facilities I have at my disposal and the positive backing I have from St Johnstone FC, I can only see a bright future for St Johnstone Women FC. It is an exciting time for everyone and I believe that the set up I can now offer players will help me continue their development as individuals and as a team. The players are delighted and it has given us a great boost for pre-season".
