Saints U20s continued their good start to the season by edging out United by the odd goal in three in St Andrews this afternoon.
Alex Cleland’s youngsters opened the scoring after 18 minutes when the Tangerines failed to clear their lines allowing Ally McCann in to dink the keeper.
0n 29 minutes, Dundee United levelled with a helping hand from Saints keeper Ben McKenzie who failed to hold on to Dom McMeekin’s corner and Allardice squeezed the loose ball home from a narrow angle.
Despite there being little between the teams, Saints snatched the winner with 15 minutes left. Jamie Docherty’s first effort was beaten away by United keeper Josh Donaldson only for the Saints striker to net the rebound.
United pressed in the closing stages although Saints held on for the three points.
