Beverley Mayer appointed club SLO

16th August 2016

Saints are delighted to announce the appointment of Beverley Mayer as the club’s Supporter Liaison Officer.

Saints are delighted to announce the appointment of Beverley Mayer as the club’s Supporter Liaison Officer.

Beverley is a full-time employee at McDiarmid Park engaged in the club’s successful Lotto operation and is an avid Saints supporter attending every match home and away.

The creation of the SLO role at clubs was the result of detailed talks between UEFA and Supporters Direct Europe and led to the implementation of Article 35 of the UEFA Regulations which state that those applying for a UEFA license must have a member of staff appointed to work and engage with supporters, acting as a key point of contact.

Chairman Steve Brown says of the appointment: “I’m delighted that Beverley has accepted the role. She has followed the club and indeed the Scotland national side avidly for many years and is well known to many supporters. I have no doubt that she will play her part on behalf of the club as the SLO initiative develops nationally, driven jointly by the SFA and Supporters Direct Scotland.”

Beverley – who attended the inaugural SLO Development Day yesterday along with SLOs from Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock, St Mirren, Dunfermline Athletic and Motherwell - says “I’m very pleased to have been offered this role and I believe that my experience of following both Saints and Scotland all across Europe over the years gives me a good background when it comes to knowing what it is like to be a fan.

“My main aim is to make sure that I aid and improve the relationship between the club and supporters’ groups and individual fans and ensure that there is regular contact with other liaison officers and with the football authorities and leagues.”

UEFA see three key main objectives for an SLO: managing the flow of communications between fans and the club and other stakeholders, assisting and advising fans and clubs and liaising with safety officers, police and stewards to minimise potential issues.
