CHRIS KANE BELIEVES DEFEAT WASN'T A FAIR REFLECTION OF GAME

26th July 2016

Super sub Chris Kane made an impact from the bench, and feels that 2-1 didn’t tell the full story against Partick Thistle on Wednesday night.

“I wouldn’t say 2-1 is a fair reflection of the match, but we can’t start any game the way we did today. It was a very poor start from us but if you take away those two goals, I thought we did well, played the ball forward and created loads of chances.”

Disappointed in Saints’ slow start to the match, Kane was disappointed that the side couldn’t claw it back in the second half.

“The goal we got back gave us a lift but we were unfortunate that we couldn’t get another one or two.”

Despite the result, the young striker felt that the performance was an improvement over last week’s, and that opportunities were being made.

“We were a lot more positive than last week at Firhill and were trying to get forward a lot more. The two goals killed it but we created good chances but just couldn’t take them.”

On a personal level, Kane was delighted to grab another goal, but would much rather have had it count for something.

“I’m not happy about the result but I’m pleased to be on the scoresheet. I’d have preferred it if it was a crucial goal but I am happy to be back on the pitch and hopefully I can impress the gaffer in training and get a start next week.”

With no fixture this weekend, Kane looked forward to preparations to next week’s tie against Inverness.

“We’ll be in over the weekend and get a good training session. We’ll get one day off and then train Monday, Tuesday and prepare for the game on Wednesday.”
