WOTHERSPOON ON FRIDAY NIGHT DRAW WITH DUNDEE

26th July 2016

Following the Tayside derby between Saints and Dundee on Friday night in front of the television cameras, Saints’ scorer of the equaliser, which gained them a point from the game, David Wotherspoon gave his thoughts on the match.

“I think the first ten or fifteen minutes, we didn’t start well. But, then once we got going we felt that we were the dominant team. Then we got the goal and we felt we could try and get another before half time. The second half was a bit ‘even stevens’ and a draw was the right result in the end.

“I like a Friday night game sometimes, and night games, I quite like. Obviously it is not the same as a Saturday 3 o’clock with all the teams playing at the same time but I enjoyed it”.

Yet again, Saints found themselves having to fightback from a goal down after Kane Hemmings grabbed the opener for Dundee after only three minutes.

“It seems to be happening quite regularly, which is quite disappointing for us. We just need to recify that and get off to a good start and I am sure we will work on that”.

David scored a well worked goal to earn a point, his third league goal of the season and already surpassing his tally from last season.

“Another goal for me, I’m delighted, it’s a great feeling. I need to add goals to my game, I’m sometimes getting the right chances but not putting them in the net and luckily this time it went in the back of the net and I felt I should have had another one”.

David has found himself playing at the wide left of midfield recently, but he enjoys coming central and getting more of the ball.

“I like to get a bit of freedom, get on the ball as much as I can so I can affect the game as much as I can. I don’t like to stay on the wing the whole time and not get involved, so I mix it up”.
