MACKAY DELIGHTED TO EXTEND STAY WITH SAINTS

Dave Mackay has spoken of his delight at committing himself to the club for next season.

Speaking after penning a one year contract extension which takes him through to May 2017, the long-serving captain said: “This is a great club to be a part of and it’s going really well again so far this season. Long may that continue.

“It wasn’t hard to deal with the club and we came to an agreement pretty quickly. When you get to my age you can’t afford to ask for ridiculous amounts but first and foremost I am happy that the club wanted me to stay.

“We are on a good run just now – fourth in the league and a League Cup semi-final on the back-burner but we must all work hard to keep it going.”
