'HALL OF FAME' INDUCTEE JOE CARR PASSES AWAY AGED 83

26th July 2016

The club have today been informed of the passing of former player Joe Carr after a short illness.

Joe was a hugely prominent player over the course of nine seasons with St Johnstone between 1953 and 1962 and he features in the top thirty appearance makers for the club and top twenty goal scorers.

A junior footballer at the age of 14 with Bonnyrigg Rose he signed for Saints after spells with Kilsyth St Patricks and Dunipace. Saints were his only senior club and in 1961 he was given a deserved testimonial against Falkirk FC.

Joe scored 70 goals in 230 appearances in his time at Muirton Park and in October 2013 was one of five inductees into the inaugural St Johnstone FC Hall of Fame.

Our thoughts are with Joe’s family at this sad time.
