EXTENDED DEAL KEEPS CAPTAIN MACKAY IN PERTH FOR NEXT SEASON

26th July 2016

Dave Mackay is the latest player to extend his stay at McDiarmid Park with the club captain penning a one year extension to his current deal, covering next season.

‘Cup-tie’ joined the club in 2009 from Livingston and has been a stalwart during his entire stay with the club although he admits he wasn’t sure if he had made a mistake!

Dave says: “When I arrived, everyone was raving about how good Gary Irvine had been in the right-back position and I wondered if I had maybe made the wrong move but I had confidence in my own ability and I’m delighted the way things have turned out.”

Manager Tommy Wright: “It’s great news for us and provides another piece in the jigsaw for next season already. Dave is as consistent as ever and although I know he sees himself moving into central defence eventually, Steven Anderson and Tam Scobbie are doing well in there at the moment so Dave might have to bide his time!”
