SFA CHARGE BRIAN GRAHAM OVER CALEY THISTLE PENALTY INCIDENT

SFA CHARGE BRIAN GRAHAM OVER CALEY THISTLE PENALTY INCIDENT

26th July 2016

The SFA Compliance Officer has issued Brian Graham with a Notice of Complaint in relation to the incident in last Saturday’s game against Inverness Caledonian Thistle when the striker went down in the penalty area under a challenge from Caley keeper Dean Brill and was awarded a penalty kick by referee Brian Colvin which he, himself, converted to give Saints a 1-0 win.

The Player has been charged under Disciplinary Rule 201 which states “No player shall cause a match official to make an incorrect decision…….by an act of simulation which results in that player’s team being awarded a penalty kick…….”

The player has been offered a two match suspension which, if accepted, would see him miss the club’s next two matches v Dundee United and Aberdeen. The striker, on loan from Dundee United, is unable to participate in Saturday’s game against his ‘parent’ club in any case.

The club is considering its position on the matter and has until 3pm tomorrow to respond to the SFA on the charge.
