SAINTS READY FOR HOME CLASH WITH COUNTY

SAINTS READY FOR HOME CLASH WITH COUNTY

26th July 2016

With the international break over it's back to domestic duties for Saints tomorrow, when we welcome Ross County to McDiarmid Park for the first of two encounters between the two sides in two weeks.

After going five defeats on the bounce Saints have managed to get back on track in previous weeks, which leaves Tommy Wright and his players with hope of going four games unbeaten after Saturday’s encounter.

Team wise for Saints, Murray Davidson and James McFadden will return from knocks which kept them out of the Dundee clash. However, David Wotherspoon and Gary McDonald could miss out.

The “Staggies” are currently sitting in bottom spot in the SPFL but go into Saturday’s clash on the back of an impressive 3-0 away to Kilmarnock just before the international break. After that win the Dingwall side sit equal on points with eleventh-placed St Mirren.

Since Ross County’s promotion to the SPFL in 2012, the teams have met on four occasions at McDiarmid Park. There have been two draws and a win for each team. The most memorable game for Saints fans would have to be the 4-0 win against the Highland side back in August 2013, when Nigel Hasselbaink, Stevie May, David Wotherspoon and Dave Mackay all got on the score sheet in a fine home display.

There will be a familiar face amongst the Ross County dugout on Saturday as former Saints player Billy Dodd’s is now assistant manager to Jim McIntyre. Billy, in his time with Saints made twenty appearances andscored six goals.

Saturday’s game is a 3pm kick off at McDiarmid Park and the referee is Steven McLean.
