CAFE Week of Action 2024: Annual match

A St Johnstone staff team took on Saints in the Community's Mental Health and Wellbeing side on Tuesday afternoon to raise awareness for and support the CAFE Week of Action 2024.

The CAFE Week of Action – this year running from March 8-24 – is an annual initiative which celebrates access for all and promotes the wider inclusion of disabled people in football.

We are thrilled to be joining with other clubs and stakeholders across Europe to promote the important message of access and inclusion for all.

The competitive but friendly game on the all-weather pitch at McDiarmid Park saw goals galore and resulted in plenty of smiles and laughs for both teams.

Saints’ assistant manager Andy Kirk was among those to lace up the boots – and he even rolled back the years to net a peach of a strike from distance.

More importantly, though, he was delighted to get involved with the match to show his support.

Andy said: “I really enjoyed the match and it was great to pull my boots back on in a fixture for such a great cause.

“I would like to congratulate all those who took part for playing their part in a great game of football. The football club is proud to support the CAFE Week of Action once again.”

The CAFE Week of Action is the largest campaign of its kind, celebrating inclusion in the game that we love and working towards ensuring that disabled people can take their rightful place amongst their peers within sport - from grassroots to boardrooms - as spectators, players, coaches, administrators, volunteers and decision makers.
