Pre-Season Friendly
Lisburn Distillery (0) v Saints (1)
Attendance [220]

Saints secured a narrow 1-0 win over Irish part-timers Distillery in Lisburn tonight but it took a Liam Craig penalty kick to divide the teams in dour struggle of a game.

Andy Jackson was given his first start since a combination of knee and Achilles surgery wrecked his SPL debut season and the striker came through the game successfully.

As anticipated, Derek McInnes fielded a foreign trialist goalkeeper but he had little to do until the closing minutes when he denied veteran striker Glenn Ferguson a dramatic late
equaliser.

Saints dominated much of the game but couldn’t work a way through a rigid, tough tackling Distillery defence and the closest we came to a breakthrough before the interval was a clever lob from Cleveland Taylor from the edge of the penalty area which
smacked the post of keeper Phil Matthews.

Teenage debutant Liam Caddis was prominent and he squeezed a tight angled shot past the far post before Stevie Milne curled a 22-yard shot over the target in the 29th minute.

And it was Caddis again who posed problems for the Irish side but Matthews smothered his cutback from the bye-line.

The second half was only minutes old when the Distillery keeper was in action again minutes as he parried a netbound Michael Duberry header from a Danny Grainger corner.

Saints made the breakthrough in the 67th minute and it came from the penalty spot substitute Liam Craig converting after home defender Muir had handled a netbound Steven Anderson shot.
